Robert G. Auscherman, 81, of Carmel, passed away at sunrise on Father’s Day. June 17, 2018. He died at home after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 20, 1937 in Indianapolis, he attended both Ben Davis and Shortridge High Schools. He then enlisted in the United States Airforce and was stationed in England. Upon returning to the U.S he was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Control Specialist in the Indianapolis Regional ATC Center for over 30 years.
He loved fishing off Sanibel Island and at his lakefront cottage on Morse Lake. He adored cruising in the little lake town of Cicero in his fancy golf cart with his beloved Westie dog, Tucker, at his side. Bob was a creative and artistic man with many talents. He never knew a stranger and was always ready to help anyone, whatever their need might be, as he was capable of doing so many different things.
Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Suzanne Wallace Auscherman, daughter, Wendy Auscherman Reed, son, Andy Auscherman (Natalie) and 4 fabulous grandchildren, Amy, Allie and Drew Auscherman and Cooper Reed. He his also survived by sisters Jene and Janice and brother, Ron. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Greg Auscherman, his sister Joyce Allen and brother Bill. He will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A “Celebration of his Life” will be held at Flanner Buchanan Carmel on Sunday, June 24th, from 3 until 6 P.M. In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name, may be made to MARY RIGG Neighborhood Center, 1920 W. Morris St., Indpls., IN 46221
